Call to Worship

Our God comes and invites us to share our lives.
All: We offer to our loving God the stories of our lives.
God knows our needs but in love desires us to share them.
All: We offer to our loving God the struggles we face.
God hears us and invites us to imitate divine love.
All: In gratitude we will lovingly listen to others.

HYMN 547: What a friend we have in Jesus

Gathering Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power,
and the glory, for ever. Amen

Joint Congregational Meeting, 16th October – You are all invited and encouraged to stay on for a Joint Congregation Meeting after the Service today.

Towards our new parish – The steering group representing Newhaven, North Leith and South Leith congregations has produced an update on the progress towards the union of the three parishes. Paper copies are available at the café area as you come into the Church, and the update is also on the website www.towardsournewparish.com

Growth Group – Peter Bluett, Minister at Newhaven is looking to host a new small group meeting on a fortnightly basis on a Thursday afternoon in Newhaven Church. From other groups there many have found that being part of a small group who regularly meet to read and discuss the Bible, sometimes praying together, is a very good way of journeying in faith, as well as deepening relationships with one another. If you are interested, please speak to Peter
